Strange Unknown Hammered Silver Coin
I bought this coin on EBay for about $12.00. It was so strange looking I had to buy it. I was wondering if anyone has seen a coin like this before. I have no idea what it is but was intrigued. If I got ripped off, it was a cheap lesson.

Re: Strange Unknown Hammered Silver Coin
At first glance it looks like India-Pakistan area temple coin. I believe circa 1700's-1800's.
They were low grade silver and were used as an offering of sorts....not sure how. Not terribly valuable, many many different exist, just an interesting piece of sub-continent history.... gltu |

Depending on weight and it's Silver finesse<SP> you mighta paid a lil bit to much for it, but not much; I mean you spent about 12.00s, no major loss even if the thing is worthless... Now had you bought several of them or several hundred, I'd really question the purchase... One of the other posted mentioned that they thought it was 1700's-1800's, I don't doubt that a bit... Also, I don't know how much your into numismatics or coin collecting, but any coin still readable or at that age, it probabbly worth that if not several bucks more... All in all I think it was a decent buy... It could be a cool conversation peice if nothing else... The real important question is, do you think it was a decent buy? If your happy, I say Great... if not, I say well, it was only 12 bucks, beglad it wasn't 1200.. :) |
